4 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka swatted his fifth home run of the season in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Nationals. Higashioka's homer was the first hit of the game for the Yankee offense, as Max Scherzer had retired the first seven batters of the game before allowing the long ball. The 31-year-old backstop owns a .949 OPS and ranks in the 92nd-percentile in pitch framing- he's the best option the Yankees have at catcher right now, though Gary Sanchez could get hot at the plate in an instant, which would shift Higashioka back to more of a backup role.--Tim Capurso
