4 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka swatted his fourth home run of the season on Tuesday in a win over the Orioles. Higashioka lofted what initially looked like a routine fly-ball into right field, though the ball picked up a second wind and left the field of play for his fourth homer, 396 feet into the seats. The 31-year-old is now slashing .320/.414/.880 with four home runs in 11 games played for the Bronx Bombers this season. Manager Aaron Boone had said before Tuesday's game that Higashioka earned more playing time moving forward- which isn't necessarily surprising given Gary Sanchez's struggles. If Higashioka can continue to be the superior defensive player- 96th-percentile in pitch framing- and swing the bat well, he could find himself slightly ahead of Sanchez in the timeshare.--Tim Capurso
