5 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka clubbed a pair of home runs in four at-bats against the Tigers on Thursday. Higashioka is the overwhelming favorite to back up starter Gary Sanchez for the Yankees this season, a role that tends to offer a significant amount of playing time. As Sanchez’s primary backup in each of the past three seasons, Austin Romine accumulated at least 240 plate appearances every year. With a 13.7% career swinging-strike rate and a .171 career minor league ISO, Higashioka is a high-strikeout hitter with some pop in his bat who should be expected to produce an OPS of around .700 in 2020. That makes Higashioka a usable DFS option for fantasy owners looking for a cheap catcher when he plays, and a potential option in very deep AL-only leagues.--Sam Chinitz
