4 years agoIf the MVP Award were given out after just over a week of play, Seattle Mariners outfielder Kyle Lewis would likely be highly considered for the honors in the American League. With another multi-hit performance Friday, Lewis became the first rookie to compile at least 15 hits in his team’s first eight games since 1977. Entering the night, the star of the Mariners’ 2020 year to this point was in the top five percentile in the Majors in xBA (.336), wOBA (.485), and xwOBAcon (.639). It’s unlikely that he can keep up such a prodigious level of production, so owners looking to sell high may take advantage as Lewis had just two barrels and an average exit velocity of 85.8 mph entering play Friday. But in those leagues which Lewis somehow remains on the waiver wire, he’ll need to be snatched up immediately.--Jesse Borek
