2 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. (forearm) is facing hitters at Yankee Stadium on Saturday. McCullers threw a bullpen session and did some fielding drills earlier this week, and he's getting closer to game action after recovering from a right flexor tendon strain. The 28-year-old right-hander has yet to pitch in 2022, but as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he should be able to return to the Astros starting rotation at some point in August. McCullers is currently on the 60-day injured list, and it might be another week before he begins what will likely be an extended minor league rehab assignment. He was great last year in the regular season, going 13-5 with a 3.16 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 28 starts, but he had to be shut down in the postseason and hasn't pitched since.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
