6 years agoHouston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. pitched a scoreless inning in relief on Wednesday against the Blue Jays. McCullers Jr. has not pitched since August 4 and struck out one hitter in the scoreless frame. McCullers Jr. has made 22 starts this season but it appears the Astros are planning to use him out of the pen in long-relief for the playoffs. McCullers Jr. came out of the bullpen last season to pitch some high-leverage innings en route to a World Series win and the team could deploy a similar role this season. McCullers Jr. for the season is 10-6 with a 1.18 WHIP, 3.90 ERA and 139 strikeouts in 127 innings.--Joey C - RotoBaller
