Lance McCullers Jr. Throws Sim Game Tuesday
2 years agoHouston Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (forearm) threw around 37 pitches during a two-inning simulated game on Tuesday and is scheduled to repeat it on Saturday, after which the team will discuss his next steps. McCullers used all of his pitches during a live batting practice session last week as he continues to build up his right arm. The 28-year-old will ultimately need a lengthy minor league rehab assignment, since he hasn't pitched since the postseason last year. Barring any setbacks, fantasy managers should expect him back in Houston's starting rotation at some point in August, and he could be of use in all fantasy formats. In 28 regular season starts in 2021, McCullers went 13-5 with a 3.16 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, a league-leading 76 walks and 185 strikeouts in 162 1/3 innings pitched.
