Latavius Murray Released By Saints
3 years agoThe New Orleans Saints have released running back Latavius Murray. The move came after the 31-year-old refused to take a pay cut on Sunday. Through two seasons in New Orleans, the former sixth-round pick amassed 1,704 scrimmage yards and 11 total touchdowns. By cutting Murray, the Saints create $3.176 million in salary cap space while taking on $1 million in dead money. The veteran was slated to occupy the No. 2 role behind Alvin Kamara but will instead look for a job elsewhere. Moving forward, Tony Jones Jr., an undrafted free agent in 2020, will serve as the backup. He appeared on the field for just five offensive snaps last year but reportedly impressed coaches during training camp and the preseason. If you own Kamara and are looking for a handcuff in a deeper league, Jones should be the pickup off the waiver wire.
