Lavonte David Inks Two-Year Contract Extension
4 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers may not have placed the franchise tag on linebacker Lavonte David, but he will be returning for 2021 -- and beyond. The specifics of the deal are a bit convoluted, as three voidable years have been tagged to the back end, but ultimately, David is set to earn $25 million over his two seasons. A stalwart of the Buccaneers Defense, David has started every game over the last two years, amassing 117 tackles -- including 12 for a loss -- in '20. After placing the franchise tag on Chris Godwin earlier Tuesday, Tampa Bay has had to get creative in order to bring David back, with eyes still on Shaq Barrett as well. The Bucs featured a top-tier defense last season, and with David set to return, can once again be viewed as a Top 10 unit entering '21.
