LeSean McCoy Could Have More Value as Backup in Kansas City
5 years agoFormer Buffalo running back LeSean McCoy was signed by the Chiefs on Saturday night, reuniting him with head coach Andy Reid, who coached McCoy on the Eagles from 2009-13. His signing has thrown owners of Damien Williams and Darwin Thompson into a panic but McCoy owners may have cause for more optimism, as the 31-year-old may have been the primary back in Buffalo, but was looking at having his usage cut into by a rising Devin Singletary and the eternal Frank Gore. In Kansas City, he reunites with Reid, under whom McCoy led the NFL in touchdowns in 2011 and his signing doesn't exactly speak to Reid's confidence in the rest of his backfield. McCoy is an RB3 for the moment but that may change depending on his usage in the Chief's high-powered offense.
