Le'Veon Bell, Steelers Closer On Contract Extension
6 years agoAccording to a report from NFL.com's Chris Wesseling, the Pittsburgh Steelers and running back Le'Veon Bell are "a lot closer than last year" in their contract talks. Bell himself told reporters that he is optimistic about reaching a contract, which would allow him to arrive at training camp on time after sitting out of the entire preseason in 2017. Bell stated, "I don't want to have the replications of what happened last year. But if that came down to that, obviously I got to do what I got to do. Take my stand and protect myself. I don't want to have to do that. I want to go to camp and play for the Steelers long term." Bell, who the team placed the franchise tag on, has until July 16 to reach a long-term extension with the Steelers. Regardless of what happens, expect Bell to be the Steelers primary ball carrier once the 2018 season opens.
