4 years agoMiami Marlins rookie first baseman Lewin Diaz was optioned back to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday. With Garrett Cooper (back) returning from the injured list, the team needed to make room on the roster. Diaz flashed in some pinch hitting opportunities and looks like a guy who will definitely hit in his major league career, but his .118/.118/.471 line shows that he still may have some work to do in the minors. If the Marlins sell some veteran pieces at the deadline, Diaz may end up with the starting role at first base for the last two months of the season.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
