6 years agoOakland Athletics pitcher Liam Hendriks, who recently started three games and came on in relief in another in an eight-day span, picked up velocity after tinkering with his mechanics in the minor leagues before his latest call-up. He was designated for assignment in late July but cleared waivers and remained with the club. "He's throwing a lot harder," manager Bob Melvin said. "When we DFA'd him, he was throwing 90-91, maybe 92 mph. He speaks about a new throwing program and playing long toss. That has certainly translated well for him. He's throwing like he did a couple years ago, throwing upwards of 97 mph and he's a different guy when he does that. He's doing a nice job for us." He has tossed three scoreless outings in his last three appearances (two starts). While the right-hander appears to have figured something out, he still has a 6.32 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 9.2 K/9 over 17 outings (three starts). Hendriks is not a fantasy option.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
