Logan Gilbert Looks Great In First Spring Start
3 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert struck out six hitters in three innings against the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday in his first Cactus League start. He gave up a solo home run in his first inning. The right-hander was touching 91 mph with his slider, and he looks ready to push for All-Star status in 2022. Only one of his six strikeouts on the day came on his fastball. If Gilbert can display a solid three-pitch mix this year, he could be very effective for the Mariners and fantasy managers. Although the 24-year-old had a 4.68 ERA last year, he coupled it with a solid 1.17 WHIP and 128 K's in 119 1/3 innings over 24 starts in Seattle.
