Logan Gilbert Will Not Appear In Any More Spring Games
4 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert won't make any more Cactus League appearances this year. The Mariners have decided to keep their young pitcher out of the action in an attempt to limit his workload. Gilbert will continue to throw bullpen sessions and, possibly, simulated games. This will allow the Mariners to allocate Gilbert's innings to the second half of the major league season, when he will presumably be called up to the big club. Once he is in the majors, Gilbert has the potential to have an immediate fantasy impact, as he has struck out 165 batters in 135 career innings while only yielding 33 walks. Those numbers give him a very safe floor as he transitions to the highest level.
