Logan O'Hoppe Displaying Power In Double-A
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies catcher prospect Logan O'Hoppe homered in his second consecutive game for Double-A Reading on Wednesday. O'Hoppe would finish the game 2-for-4 and has now rounded the bases three times over his last two games. For the season, he is now hitting .272 with six home runs and 19 RBI. Due to a strong work ethic, O'Hoppe has worked on his plate discipline and has seen an increase in walks and decrease in strikeouts over the past year. This has also allowed the 22-year-old to tap into his raw power. To go along with a strong offensive game, he has also earned strong reviews defensively. The backstop got a cup of coffee in Triple-A last season, but struggled in 21 at-bats. With J.T. Realmuto going nowhere at the big-league level, O'Hoppe will continue to gain experience on the farm, but he would make an intriguing trade chip for the Phillies. O'Hoppe is a name dynasty managers should start keeping tabs on with his potential to hit 20 home runs at a position that doesn't provide much depth.
