4 years agoOakland Athletics relief pitcher Lou Trivino pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save of the season Tuesday at Arizona. Trivino issued a walk, but needed just 12 pitches to slam the door on the Diamondbacks. There was speculation Trivino could step into the closer role in the absence of Trevor Rosenthal (shoulder) and he did get the first save chance. The 29-year-old is off to a hot start in 2021 allowing just one earned run through 8 2/3 innings. Trivino posted a 28 percent strikeout rate last season and has whiffed 32 percent of batters thus far this season making him a solid candidate to close games. Jake Diekman may steal some saves, but Trivino should get most of the save chances for Oakland making him a must-roster reliever in category-based leagues.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
