Lou Trivino Whiffs Two In Sixth Inning To Earn Second Hold
4 years agoOakland Athletics relief pitcher Lou Trivino struck out both batters he faced to escape the sixth inning and earn his second hold of the season. Trivino had been operating as the closer for Oakland, but manager Bob Melvin called on Trivino with two RHB coming up and the tying run on base, so he's clearly a trusted reliever in the A's bullpen. However, with left-hander Jake Diekman picking up the save - the Twins had two lefties due up in the seventh - it seems Melvin will play the matchups instead of using Trivino as a traditional closer. Trivino should still see plenty of save chances and should be rostered in category-based fantasy leagues, but Diekman has some deep-league appeal as well.
