5 years agoToronto Blue Jays infielder Lourdes Gurriel is being recalled by the club on Friday. Gurriel burst on the scene in 2018, hitting 11 home runs in 65 games with the Blue Jays. After struggling in 13 games this year, Gurriel was sent to Triple-A Buffalo on April 15. In 29 minor league games, the young infielder hit .274 with four home runs and 12 doubles, showing off the extra-base power we came to know last year. Gurriel will always struggle with strikeouts, hindering his productivity in on-base percentage leagues, but he provides unusual power from the middle infield spots.--Walt Clark
