3 years agoCincinnati Reds relief pitcher Lucas Sims (elbow) will most likely be back in action with the team in August, according to C. Trent Rosencrans of The Athletic. Sims has been out since the end of June with a sprained right elbow, and earlier reports had his return as coming by the end of July. However manager David Bell said a more realistic timeframe for Sims' return is sometime in August, with Bell adding that this is not being considered a setback. Prior to the injury, Sims had established himself as the leading closer candidate in the Reds' bullpen, converting six-of-seven save opportunities with a 3.00 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 12 innings going back to May 25. When he returns to action, he'll likely slide back into the primary closer role, but until then Amir Garrett seems to be the leading candidate for saves in Cincinnati.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
