Luis Castillo Has Second Straight Rough Start Sunday
6 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Luis Castillo struggled for the second start in a row in Sunday's loss to the Padres. The 25-year-old gave up four runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four 2/3 innings pitched. Castillo has been disappointing after a solid rookie season, and now has an ugly 5.64 ERA in 67 innings pitched. Several noticeable changes in Castillo's numbers are a decrease in strikeout percentage (22% vs 27.3% in 2017) and an increase in hard contact rate (36.3% vs 29.6% in 2017) and BABIP (.309 vs .247 in 2017). His decreased performance this season is certainly troubling for fantasy owners, who should consider benching Castillo until he can figure things out.
