Luis Castillo Struggles In Loss To Cleveland
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Luis Castillo struggled in a 9-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Saturday. Castillo allowed six runs (four earned) over four innings of work while striking out two and walking two. The veteran took the loss, dropping his record to 1-4 with a 6.42 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts in 33 2/3 innings of work. Castillo didn't fool many Cleveland batters on Saturday as he posted a well-below average 17% CSW (called strikes+whiffs) rate. Of his four pitches, only his slider (33%) got more than a 12% CSW. It has been a disappointing season for Castillo, who was mostly drafted to be the SP1 for fantasy managers. He needs to be benched for his next start, which will come in Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies.
