4 years agoNew York Mets second baseman Luis Guillorme went 2-for-4 with one RBI in the Mets' 5-3 win over the Marlins on Wednesday. Guillorme, starting at second base with Robinson Cano serving as the designated hitter, is now hitting a blistering .464 with a .515 on-base percentage over 33 plate appearances. He now has an eight game hitting streak and is batting .545 (12-for-22) over that period. Given his hot hitting, conventional wisdom would suggest the Mets play Guillorme at second base on a regular basis, with Cano inserted at DH. Guillorme is far superior to Cano on defense and, together with Andres Gimenez, could fortify the Mets' suspect infield defense up-the-middle. That said, the Mets have far too many mouths to feed on the infield to guarantee Guillorme regular at-bats, despite his hot streak. Notwithstanding, owners in deep leagues may want to take a flier on Guillorme in the event he somehow lands a regular role with the Mets, or as insurance in the likely event Cano goes down with another injury.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
