Luis Severino Can't Avoid Injured List
2 years agoThe New York Yankees placed starting pitcher Luis Severino (lat) on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with a low-grade right lat strain. Right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga was reinstated from the 15-day injured list, and right-hander Ryan Weber's contract was selected from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in corresponding moves. Severino's injury was initially described as shoulder tightness after he left his start early on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds. The 28-year-old missed most of last year with a lat injury, so the Yankees will make sure not to rush him back to the rotation for the second half of the season. Fantasy managers should expect him back in early August. Despite giving up four runs on three straight homers on Wednesday, Severino still has a 3.45 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 95 K's in 86 innings over 16 starts in 2022.
