Luis Urias Struggling At Shortstop
5 years agoSan Diego Padres infielder Luis Urias committed a critical extra-inning error in Wednesday’s loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. That’s five errors in the past eight games for the 22-year-old, who also went hitless in three tries. Although he’s flashed serious glovework at second, Urias has struggled since moving to shortstop in the wake of the injury to Fernando Tatis Jr. (back). One of the Friars’ touted prospects, Urias continues scuffling offensively, slashing .184/.315/.264 with just six extra-base hits in 149 plate appearances. Obviously, the Padres won’t give up on their promising youngster but he could lose playing time if manager Andy Green decides to shuffle his position players. Urias isn’t a fantasy option down the stretch but should be held as a quality dynasty asset.
