Luke Voit Heading To Washington In Juan Soto Deal
2 years agoThe San Diego Padres are sending first baseman Luke Voit to the Washington Nationals on Tuesday to finalize the deal involving superstar outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell, according to a source. First baseman Eric Hosmer was originally included in the deal for Soto and Bell, but he exercised his no-trade clause and was later dealt to the Boston Red Sox. Earlier in the day, Passan reported that the Nationals would also be getting left-hander MacKenzie Gore, top outfield prospect Robert Hassel III, shortstop C.J. Abrams, outfielder James Wood and right-hander Jarlin Susana, but it's unknown if those names are still included in the blockbuster swap. The 31-year-old Voit will become Washington's primary first baseman, and he'll lose fantasy value in the move to the last-place Nats. Voit is hitting .225 with 13 homers and 48 RBI in 298 at-bats in 2022.
