Luke Voit Hit In Hand, Stays In Game
4 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit was hit in the left hand by a 93 mph fastball during Tuesday’s game against the Braves. Voit was looked at by trainers but stayed in the game for his next at-bat before being removed for defensive reasons in the ninth inning. Voit has continued to hit well for the Yankees, leaving Tuesday’s game with a .920 OPS after posting a .842 OPS last season. Voit may not have the best contact skills (15.6% career swinging-strike rate), but he doesn’t chase pitches outside of the strike zone too frequently (28% o-swing rate) and he boasts impressive power that helped fuel a .499 xSLG last year. It doesn’t seem like Voit’s hand will be an issue going forward, so fantasy players should expect the 29-year-old to continue hitting well as the everyday first baseman for the Yankees.
