4 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit said that he's focusing on increasing his walk rate for the 2021 season on Thursday. Voit's 7.3% walk rate from last season was one of the only (relative) holes in his game as he led the league in home runs and posted a .948 OPS, and his suppressed walk rate was in part the result of a 6.7-point increase in his chase rate to 33.3%. It's worth noting that some of Voit's lower walk rate was a side-effect of an improved contact rate, but it's encouraging to hear that Voit is working on his walk rate this offseason, and fantasy managers should keep that in mind on draft day.--Sam Chinitz
