Luke Weaver Silences Reds On Sunday
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Luke Weaver tossed seven scoreless innings on Sunday, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out eight in a 7-0 win over the Reds. Weaver looked like a completely different player on the mound, as he tossed seven shutout innings for the first time since August 2017. Not only was it surprising to see Weaver pitch this well after allowing 15 runs — 14 earned — in 14 2/3 innings during Spring Training, it was a shock to see him blank the highest scoring offense in the majors, with the Reds, who have averaged 7.33 runs per game. It's hard to get too excited for Weaver based on his body of work, but he could be a possible streaming option going forward, but you might want to pass on his next scheduled start against the Nationals.
