4 years agoNot missing a beat since the start of last year, Mackenzie Dern (11-1) won her fourth fight in a row on Saturday, making it three of four by first-round submission. Coming into the matchup with a future title shot within reach, Dern submitted veteran and fifth-ranked Nina Nunes with 12 seconds left in the first round with an armbar. Not normally a high-output striker, Dern tallied 12 significant strikes (31 total strikes) in 4:48 of total action. There are very few fighters in the world that Dern cannot submit, but those women may sit at the very top of the strawweight division. More than likely, a title eliminator is in her immediate future.--Matt Bricker - RotoBaller
