5 years agoSan Diego Padres pitching prospect MacKenzie Gore is working out in big league camp this spring but holds long odds to crack the Opening Day roster. Last year’s MLB Pipeline Pitcher of the Year and the top pitching prospect in baseball annihilated the minors in 2019, tallying a 1.69 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 12.0 K/9 in 101 innings across High-A and Double-A. However, the Padres rotation seems rigid entering March, with four spots likely secured and at least four arms vying for the final slot. While the 20-year-old’s ceiling is sky-high, the Friars have the luxury to be prudent with his development. But with a stellar spring training, Gore may be impossible to deny. Currently slotting just outside the top-100 pitchers in fantasy, Gore is someone to watch in all formats.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
