Madison Bumgarner Battling Back Spasms After Start Sunday
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks left-handed pitcher Madison Bumgarner was removed from Sunday’s start against the Padres due to back spasms, per manager Torey Lovullo. The injury was not readily apparent upon his removal, as he had allowed four home runs in two innings of work as his fastball velocity continued to be a concern. While Bumgarner has been a fantasy stalwart for most of the past decade, his run may be coming to an end, as he has allowed seven home runs in 17 ⅓ frames, compiling a 9.35 ERA across his first four starts. It would not be a surprise if a stint on the injured list was in the future of the southpaw as he is heading back to Arizona for further evaluation. Check back for updates throughout the week as his next turn in the rotation comes Friday against the Padres at Chase Field.
