Madison Bumgarner Returns To Face Giants Saturday

4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks left-handed pitcher Madison Bumgarner will make his return to a big league mound Saturday when he faces his former team, the San Francisco Giants, for the first time. Bumgarner last started Aug. 9 and has been out of the mix since due to a strain in the middle of his back. Much has been made through Bumgarner’s first four starts of 2020 of his alarmingly decreased velocity on his fastball, which will make many fantasy managers cautious in both season-long and DFS formats Saturday. San Francisco has delivered an .827 OPS as a club against southpaws this season through Wednesday, which may mean that Bumgarner will need to earn his way back onto many rosters after a 9.35 ERA to open the year.--Jesse Borek
