4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks left-handed pitcher Madison Bumgarner is set to throw a 70-pitch simulated game Sunday as he works his way back from a mid-back strain. Bumgarner has been hit and hit hard in 2020, having yielded 19 runs (18 earned) in his first 17 ⅓ innings this year, the first of five that he will spend in Arizona. While there are immense concerns around Bumgarner’s decreasing velocity on his fastball, the team will likely take every opportunity to get him back onto the big league mound. Not the elite fantasy asset that he once was, owners will want to wait to see how the southpaw performs upon his return before rostering him with consistency in season-long formats.--Jesse Borek
