Mallex Smith Belts Fifth Homer Sunday
6 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mallex Smith popped his fifth homer of the season in a 2-for-5 effort on Sunday. This shot was of the two-run variety and he also, unfortunately, got caught stealing on an impressive throw by A's catcher Beau Taylor later in the game. Smith's fantasy value resides mostly in his legs as he has 18 thefts on the year, but his improved power stroke this year is still welcoming. His five homers is a career-high and his 30 runs and 20 RBI have him on pace to set new bests in these categories as well. Smith is hitting .290 in June and is picking up steam going into the warmest months of the year. Expect the speedster to remain near the top of the stolen base leaderboard by season's end proving to be valuable in all fantasy formats.
