Mallex Smith Signs Minor League Deal With Reds
3 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds have signed outfielder Mallex Smith to a minor league deal. The 28-year-old speedster signed a deal with the Mets over the winter, but was released in late May. Smith was recovering from a broken foot, but it appears he is healthy now. Smith is a career .255/.325/.361 hitter over his time in the MLB. He is mainly a contact hitter with excellent speed. Smith doesn't have much power in his bat, but he could be an asset because of his speed. However, he'll likely start his Reds career in the minors, so he won't have fantasy value right now.
