4 years agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado popped his second home run of the year Sunday against the Texas Rangers, his only hit in four trips. Machado provided some insurance for the Friars in the 2-0 victory, taking reliever Ian Kennedy deep in the ninth inning with a solo blast. The 28-year-old is slashing a modest .243/.349/.459 on the season with nine runs-plus-RBI to accompany the homers in 43 plate appearances. Under the hood, Machado's endured a run of tough luck with a 20 percent barrel rate and an xwOBA (.451) over a hundred points above his wOBA.
