Manny Machado Coming Off Fifth All-Star Season
3 years agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado will make $30 million in 2022 in the fourth year of a 10-year, $300 million deal. Machado earned his fifth All-Star selection, and first as a Padre, last year after hitting. .278/.347/.489 with 28 home runs, 106 RBI, 92 runs scored, 12 steals, 63 walks and 102 strikeouts in 153 games (640 plate appearances). His 93.1 mph average exit velocity was second, behind only Fernando Tatis Jr., and was the best of his career. Machado had a career-best hard-hit rate (52.2%), which ranked fourth in the National League. Along with some of the best power in the game at a very shallow position, Machado should also give fantasy managers a nice batting average because of his ability to make plenty of contact. The 29-year-old is coming off the board in the early rounds of fantasy drafts, and he's ranked as RotoBaller's No. 3 third baseman.
