Manny Machado Goes Yard And Pockets Three RBI
3 years agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado finished 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI Monday against the Chicago Cubs. Machado pocketed a pair of sacrifice flies to build the Friars lead before socking a solo dinger in the eighth inning to help ice the 9-4 victory. The 28-year-old continues to hit the ball hard but hasn't found his normal consistency, slashing an uneven .239/.328/.421 with eight homers, six steals, and 64 runs-plus-RBI over 229 plate appearances. While his 1.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio are within career norms, he's been less aggressive with just a 65 percent zone-swing percentage. Fantasy managers that drafted Machado in the early rounds are certainly disappointed, but the indicators suggest the headline numbers should rebound.
