7 years agoBaltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado said shortstop is where his heart is and playing there will play a role as he approaches free agency next offseason. The Orioles have not had any extension talks with Machado, but he'd like to remain with the team if possible. Machado has been mentioned heavily in trade talks this winter as he approaches the final year of his deal with the O's, and it remains unlikely that he would remain with the Orioles on a long-term extension, but crazier things have happened. He struggled mightily out of the gates in 2017 but finished hitting .258 with 33 long balls and 95 RBI, and he will once again be one of the more attractive power-hitting fantasy third basemen in 2018, and he may even come at a slight discount, even though he no longer has shortstop eligibility.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
