5 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Manny Machado is getting a routine day off on Sunday versus Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals. Greg Garcia is getting the start at third base, and batting leadoff in his absence. Machado hasn't quite lived up to contract expectations this season batting .242 with 10 homers and 33 RBI, although still fine numbers. It's inevitable that he hits a hot streak soon after four straight seasons of 33 home runs or more and owners should remain patient that his average improves. Expect Machado to slide back into the lineup when the Friars open up a set in San Francisco on Tuesday.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
