7 years agoAfter being plunked in the ribs during Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies, San Diego Padres outfielder Manuel Margot (ribs) is going on the disabled list. Margot fell to the ground and appeared in considerable pain after being hit and needed Matt Szczur to enter as a pinch runner. X-rays revealed no fractures, but a deep bone bruise will sideline him for at least 10 games. The open roster spot makes room for outfielder Franchy Cordero, who is being recalled from Triple-A, and he will lead off Wednesday's game. Prior to a groin injury in spring training, Cordero was sizzling with a .343 average and 1.179 OPS. He was 7-for-17 in his rehab assignment before the call-up. Cordero has raw power-speed tools and is worth monitoring if he cuts back on strikeouts at the big league level.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
