Marco Estrada Better Than Expected Against Red Sox
7 years agoAfter shutting out the Tampa Bay Rays on May 6, Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marco Estrada was in for a much tougher test against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. He wasn’t a recommended play, but he was nonetheless better than expected. Estrada allowed four earned runs on seven hits and a walk across six innings pitched, taking the loss while striking out five. Although Estrada took a step back from an earned runs perspective, it was nice to see him get his control a bit more on track. After only striking out three against four walks last time out, Estrada’s 5:1 K:BB in this one is something to build upon moving forward. Estrada has another risky matchup against the Oakland Athletics on Friday, but he’s definitely startable.
