6 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marco Estrada had been stupid good throughout the month of June, pitching to a 1.75 ERA and 0.82 WHIP with 26 strikeouts against five walks across four starts and 25 2/3 innings pitched. His fifth start of the month, this time against the Houston Astros, unfortunately did not go as well. In a very difficult matchup on the road, Estrada allowed three earned runs (four total) on seven hits and two walks across five innings pitched, striking out only one. It certainly could have been a much worse effort against arguably baseball’s best offense, but it just wasn’t close to what we saw out of Estrada in his last four outings. Estrada is a must-start when he takes on the lowly New York Mets in Toronto on Tuesday.--John Smith
