6 years agoAfter struggling throughout April and May, Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marco Estrada has been on an absolute tear in June. Across three starts and 18 2/3 innings pitched, Estrada has performed to a 1.45 ERA and 0.86 WHIP, striking out 19 and only walking three over that span. Those performances have come against good opponents, too, with two of the three being against the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals (the other was against the lowly Baltimore Orioles). On Friday, Estrada will once again have his hands full in a road date with the Los Angeles Angels. Over the last week, the Angels have scored the sixth most runs in baseball, hitting the fifth most home runs in the process. Sure, the majority of that production may be coming from one man, but still. We wouldn’t recommend avoiding Estrada with how good he’s been, but the matchup definitely isn’t perfect.--John Smith
