4 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Marco Gonzales was at the top of his game Saturday against the Rockies, allowing only two hits while striking out five. The only blemishes were a Trevor Story double and a Chris Owings triple. With his father looking on, Gonzales showed why he has steadily moved up fantasy draft boards year over year. The only knock on Gonzales has been his strikeout rate, but in 2020 he set down 23.1 percent of opposing batters on strikes while only allowing a 2.5 percent walk rate. Those control numbers give Gonzales a very safe floor, and Saturday's outing hinted at even greater strikeout potential. He's a borderline top-40 starter to begin 2021.--Doug Goldring - RotoBaller
