Marco Luciano Begins Rehab Assignment
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants shortstop Marco Luciano (back), the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, started his rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Thursday. Luciano has been out since suffering a lower back strain in June. The No. 8 overall prospect in all of baseball was hitting .288/.360/.507 with eight home runs and 17 RBI in 40 games for High-A Eugene before he landed on the injured list. In his first rehab game on Thursday, he went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. The 20-year-old has plus power at the plate and an above-average arm at shortstop. Barring a setback, he should return to action at Eugene before long.
