Marcus Mariota Suffered Sprained Quad
7 years agoTennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (quadriceps) suffered a strained quadriceps in the first quarter of the Divisional Round loss to the Patriots on Saturday, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. Mariota's injury forced the team to alter their offensive game plan, and it likely played a part in Mariota being sacked eight times. Mariota's scrambling abilities are a big part of his game, so the injury played a big role. However, the Titans were still unlikely to spring the massive upset even with a healthy Mariota, and his overall numbers in 2017 were a disappointment in this sluggish, run-first offense all year. Injuries throughout the season also limited Mariota, and with Mularkey and the coaching staff sticking around for next year, it seems hard to envision Mariota taking a huge step forward.
