Marcus Semien Extends Hitting Streak Versus Houston
3 years agoTexas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien went 1-for-4 against the Houston Astros on Sunday, extending his hitting streak to five games and his on-base streak to eight. One of Texas' big offseason acquisitions, Semien is now slashing .182/.243/.234 with a 17.6 percent strikeout rate and 7.3 percent walk rate. He ranks among the bottom-eight percent of hitters in average exit velocity, hard-hit rate, xwOBA, xBA, xSLG, and barrel rate. On a more positive rate, his 92nd-percentile sprint speed has helped to counteract his otherwise poor metrics. Although he started off slow, the veteran infielder appears to be trending in the right direction as of late.
