Marcus Semien Rejects Qualifying Offer From Blue Jays
3 years agoFree-agent infielder Marcus Semien rejected the Toronto Blue Jays qualifying offer. The 31-year-old will test the free-agent market after a career year with the Blue Jays in 2021. He slashed .265/.334/.538 with 45 home runs, 102 RBI, 115 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases over 724 plate appearances. The free-agent market for a shortstop is pretty deep and includes Javier Baez, Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, and Trevor Story. Semien is looking for a multi-year contract and is expected to be one of the top shortstops off the board in upcoming 2022 fantasy baseball teams regardless of whichever team he signs with this offseason.
